COMMUNITY INFORMATION ______________________________________________ PAGOSA SPRINGS There's
A Lot More To this Up-And-Coming By: Michele Powers Glaze The following excerpt was taken from the above referenced article - enjoy: Imagine yourself smack-dab in the middle of a picture postcard. Well, that's where a trip to Pagosa Springs puts you. Bordered on two sides by the San Juan Mountains, the southwest pine-covered hills, rolling grassy meadows, and blue mountain lakes. But clean air, a relaxed atmosphere, and natural beauty aren't all this mountain retreat has to offer. If it is outdoor adventure you crave, the Pagosa Springs area has excellent hiking, mountain-biking, horseback riding, hunting, fishing, and golf. In winter, abundant snow and mild temperatures turn the environs into a playground for all ages. Whatever your outdoor pleasure, Pagosa Springs has it -- or it's nearby. Don't think you're up to that much activity? The natural hot springs, Fred Harman Art Museum, Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, Chimney Rock's Anasazi ruins, and the nearby towns of Creede and Durango offer attractive alternatives. If you're a horse person, the world-famous Parelli Natural Horsemanship center is just west of town. And no trip to Pagosa Springs would be complete without a scenic drive or two. One word of warning -- spend much time in this enchanted area and you won't want to leave. Just ask area residents. Unlike much of Colorado, Pagosa Springs remains relatively undeveloped and, although it's one of the fastest growing areas in the country, choice home sites are abundant and prices affordable. Combine all this with easy access and a central location, and you see why Pagosa Springs is one of Colorado's best kept secrets.
